What is Homecoming?

Initially started in the early 1900's, homecoming was a celebration held in colleges to welcome back alumni and centered on a big football game.

Generally held end of September or October, homecoming is usually a week long celebration that honors high school athletes-- typically football players.

Although every school has its own traditions, there are different themes and events held every day of the week.

For example, alumni's may visit their old teachers and coaches, while some schools may have different dress up days, a parade, talent shows, a big football game, and sometimes...pranks. 

However, the main event is the homecoming dance.

I mean let's be real, who doesn't wanna get dolled up and dance the night away with your BFFs?!

What To Wear to Homecoming?

Quick story-- at my homecoming dance (well over a decade ago), another gal was wearing the same exact dress as I was!

Super embarrassed, I avoided her the entire night and wasn't able to enjoy the rest of the evening. Heck, my friends got a good kick out of it though. 

But today, the possibilities are endless, which makes it that much easier to find a unique homecoming dress that no one else will be wearing (hopefully).

Keep in mind...homecoming is a semi-formal event and more casual than prom.

While the dance is typically held in the school's gym, some schools may require a dress code on what is appropriate. 

So, make sure to check your school's homecoming dress code policy before buying your dress.
